NCERT removes chapters on democracy and diversity for class 9 and 10

The government-run NCERT has deleted an entire chapter on ‘Democracy In the Contemporary World’ from the Class 9 Political Science textbook. Three chapters related to democracy and diversity in the Class 10 textbook will not be evaluated from the 2020 examination. The new textbooks provide no explanation for the deletion and the decision was taken within NCERT without any expert consultation. It is ironic that children in the world’s largest democracy will not be taught about it.
