Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited districts of North Karnataka which are affected by floods along with parts of Maharashtra and Kerala. Nirmala Sitharaman tweeted about reviewing the flood situation in Karnataka as it was hampering daily lives. 24 people have lost their lives so far due to the floods caused by incessant rains coupled with discharge from rives flowing in from Maharashtra. Around 17 districts in Karnataka have been affected and Sitharman visited relief centres to heard the concerns of the people. The CM BS Yeddiyurappa has announced compensation of rupees five lakh for the families of the flood victims.
