Nusrat Jahan attends Rath Yatra and spreads message of religious harmony
TMC MP Nusrat Jahan accompanied Mamata Banerjee to the annual Kolkata Rath Yatra which was surprising to many. A fatwa was issued against Nusrat Jahan recently for her attire while taking her parliamentary oath. When questioned about it she requested people to treat politics as a separate entity for religion and said that she was Muslim and her faith was rooted in her heart and not her head. She also quoted Mamata Banerjee’s Eid celebration as an example of religious harmony. ISCKON, which organises the Rath Yatra also applauded Nusrat Jahan for her inclusive view of religion.
