The last day of daily hearing by the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case came to a close on a note of high tension. More than 100 years old map, presented by the Hindu Mahasabha in the court was torn by Rajiv Dhavan, the advocate arguing for the Muslims. Amidst this drama, the Sunni Waqf Board, the lead party arguing in favour of the Babri Masjid offered a settlement and sought to withdraw it’s claim to the land. This settlement, however, needs to be accepted by all others on the same side. The judgement is likely to come out before November 17th, the date on which the present CJI will be resigning. As per current information, the judgement will likely be in favour of the Ram Mandir.
