Part of Golconda Fort being destroyed for drain building
The moat of the Golconda Fort is being destroyed in order to make room for the construction of a drain. The heavy machinery being used to cut rocks around the fort wall could potentially cause cracks in the structure. The drain pipe is intended to act as a storm water pipe to reduce flooding during rains. The construction is proceeding even though the ASI has laid down that no construction can happen within a 100 meter radius without permission. Several NGO’s are agitating to preserve the fort of historical significance.
