Pinarayi Vijayan urges citizens not to panic after Nipah virus scare

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan appealed to the citizens of Kerala not to panic after cases of Nipah virus were suspected. Pinarayi Vijayan assured the citizens that the government was taking the necessary precautions and was closely monitoring the situation. The Nipah virus which had broken out last year had claimed several lives in Kerala. The State Health Minister KK Shailaja said that the ministry has learnt from last year’s crisis and added that the experience would help them cope with any outbreak. She also said that the Health Ministry would arrange for isolation wards and ensure that the virus does not spread. Citizens who have been facing symptoms such as unusually high fever and prolonged cough are requested to seek medical help immediately.
