Rape and murder of student in Raichur goes unreported by news channels
In a horrific incident, similar to the Nirbhaya case in intensity, a 23-year-old engineering student was reportedly raped, murdered and forced to write a suicide note in Karnataka’s Raichur. The girl’s body was found burnt and hanging from a tree near her college. Huge protests are being held demanding justice and the hashtag #JusticeForMadhu is trending on social media yet the incident was unreported. No local Kannada news channels have covered the news. News channels are only obsessed with TRP and are only interested in reporting the ‘interesting gossip’ in the lives of celebrities and politicians. What are local politicians doing? Is the incident being masked because of the election? Women’s safety in the country is only deteriorating rapidly in the country.
