SC increases VVPAT Verification to reduce tampering

The SC directed the ECI to verify the VVPAT connected to five EVM’s instead of one per constituency. The random checking of VVPAT slips will ensure a tamper proof election. Despite oppositions raised based on delays in the process, the SC said that the existing set up consisting of five EC officials who will be checking the VVPAT will be able to do so efficiently.
