Speaking Bangla and doctor’s protests: Mamata Banerjee’s correlation
Mamata Banerjee has been receiving a lot of criticism for her stand on the protests by the doctors after an intern doctor was attacked by a violent mob. Mamata Banerjee had said that strict action would be taken against doctors who continued protests. Amidst this, she recently added that it was necessary for the residents of Bengal to learn and speak in Bangla. This came in after she said that the protest in the state was fuelled by outsiders and not the native Bengalis. She alleged that the BJP was instigating the protests further and even continued her previous allegation to say that the BJP had won seats by programming EVM’s. Mamata is trying to appeal to the sentiments of Bengalis to convince them that the BJP is working against them and the minorities. However, a large chunk of the protests are being carried out by Bengali doctors and are being supported by local groups who understand the cause.
