Despite massive protests, 1500 tress have been felled in Mumbai’s Aarey Colony for the Mumbai Metro. Several arrests have been made connected to the protests and social activists are being barred from going anywhere near Aarey Colony. The Supreme Court held a hearing of the case and has directed that no more tress shall be cut. After cutting so many trees, the Maharashtra government has said that no more trees will have to be cut. It was shocking that Section 144 was imposed in order to curb protests. It is important to understand the severity of climate change and be responsible citizens.
