Two muslim guys were arrested in Kerala for promoting non vegetarian food during Vishu by using Lord Krishna’s image.

Using Lord Krishna’s image to promote non-vegetarian food—especially during Vishu—can be sensitive and controversial. In many traditions, Krishna is closely associated with compassion, purity, and a vegetarian lifestyle, and Vishu itself is a sacred festival in Kerala marked by prayer, rituals, and auspicious beginnings. Because of this, linking his image with non-veg food promotions may be seen as disrespectful by some people.

If you’re thinking about messaging (for a blog or campaign), it’s generally wiser to:

  • Avoid using sacred figures for commercial or conflicting themes,
  • Stay culturally respectful and context-aware
  • Choose neutral or food-focused imagery instead.
