After surprise visits by education officers, several schools in Vijaywada were shut down for being unrecognised. These schools were found to be functioning despite not having a permit. Classes were being conducted regularly and students have now been asked to switch schools. Parents are anxious as the academic year has already begun and they have paid fees, bought books and uniforms for their wards. A sudden closure of schools has an impact on education of the students. Parents are demanding a refund of the fees from the State Government. Countering this the District Education Officer said that a list of schools under the scanner had been circulated before the academic year began and parents had been warned not to admit their wards to these schools.
