Vaiko sparks off yet another language debate
MDMK General Secretary Vaiko sparked off get another language debate in the Rajya Sabha by claiming that the usage of Hindi in the Parliament has lowered the quality of debates. He went on to ignorantly call Sanskrit a dead language while absolutely incorrectly stating that Hindi had no literature. He said that English should be used in Parliament if regional languages cannot be. While it is imperative that all languages are well represented, it is not to be achieved by putting down other languages. It is true Hindi is used a lot in the Parliament and languages like Tamil are not but that in no way proves the quality of debates.
