“Who Are You? What Is Your Association?” ‘You Are Not Gen Z’ – Delhi HC Grills CJP Leaders Over Changing Protest Causes
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka on Wednesday (October 21) withdrew their petitions challenging the extension of their judicial custody after facing a series of pointed questions from the Delhi High Court. Justice Subramonium Prasad questioned the two leaders over their alleged breach of peace bonds, repeated demonstrations at the de-notified Jantar Mantar site and the changing causes espoused by their organisation.
The Judge also repeatedly asked why the petitioners had approached the High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution when a statutory remedy was available to challenge the Special Executive Magistrate’s (SEM) October 19 order.
