Lahore born Pakistani Muslim singer Adnan Sami was allowed indefinitely stay and relief from deportation on humanitarian grounds by Government of India in August. Later the government exercised its discretionary powers to grant citizenship to Adnan Sami on grounds of being a notable artist.
