Mumbai City’s Best Bus Strike Due To Delay In Salary Payments…
Nearly 45,000 employees of Mumbai’s BEST or Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking with a good city bus service system, went on an indefinite strike to make a simple demand that their salaries are paid no later than then the 10th of the following month. This led to all the nearly 4,000 buses not plying and the city was almost brought to its knees. BEST is losing money and really cash starved. The corporation is now looking at different ways to cut costs and achieve break-even in profitability.
