Delhi has lots of CCTV but according to a Delhi Police report, half the cameras installed by them are not working, to be exact – nearly 2,000 of more than 4,000. Obviously a serious security concern in New Delhi which is a VVIP city. CCTV cameras have been installed to keep a track of activities in market places, courts, check-posts and VVIP areas, in the Delhi High Court, district courts, VP House, and all the major injection and major roads.

The JNU students union president Kanhaiya Kumar sparks another unfortunate controversy by saying Indian Army are rapists. Is he seeking free publicity or is he provoking people to seen as a victim, remains unclear. In no country in the world do you find its citizens criticizing its army public. Indian Army, a disciplined unit, is braving difficult conditions, and our men and women put their lives in line to protect the border so we can all enjoy our freedom, an obvious point made by the esteemed Delhi High Court judge. Specific to the rape allegations, they are everywhere in universities amongst students and teachers, among the general populations, in some places such as West Bengal where the minority community is dominant, in the general populations, there are allegations inside churches, etc. But where is the need to highlight this – what is the real intention, but another way to show your finger to them?

Delhi High Court judge in the JNU student union president petition noted that the claim of “fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression is some kind of infection from which such students are suffering which needs to be controlled/cured before it becomes an epidemic.” Further, the judge noted that we are enjoying this freedom only because our army and paramilitary are guarding our borders in one of the most difficult terrains in the world from Siachen Glacier to the Rann of Kutch. Such person who enjoy the freedom to raise such slogans on university campuses and shout anti-national slogans, will not be able to withstand Siachen for even one hour where oxygen is scarse.”

Based on a complaint of alleged “cheating” of over 2,000 crores by Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other parties, a court case is being fought in the Delhi High Court. Sonia & Rahul Gandhi have tried so many ways to delay and block these proceedings. The latest in their antics is a petition filed with the Supreme Court of India – their reason, Swamy is a political opponent (even though this case was filed in 2012 well before Swamy was a political opponent), to recognize their “deep roots in society”, and that these criminal proceedings would cause irreparable damage to their reputation. Perhaps they should have thought about these things before they did whatever actions they took, realizing that no one is above the law indefinitely…
