The most recent rape of 2 very young girls is an really unfortunate crime and law should take it course and give the accused the punishment they deserve. But the recent uproar, people seem to be being used for political purposes without their knowledge and the meda using it usual unbalanced reporting to bash the majority community. The Jammu rape and murder case happened a few months ago in January, but the outrage is suddenly now. Hindu community members helped the victim’s family to find the missing girl but all the media is reporting this as a hindu hate crime (but has refused to report such incidents as hate crimes when the accused are members of other religions).
There are reports of a young hindu girl raped in Assam, but there is total silence as to who the culprits? Why is that – is it because it could be from the minority community and they never mention religion?
A few days ago a muslim man chopped a 4 year’s girls’ hand and killed her because her father owed a Rs. 1,500 debt. Kashmir Pandits who continue to live as refugees in settlements in Jammu were allegedly raped by members of the local community, but were the muslims blamed for this? In Kerala and West Bengal, so many SC/ST citizens have been murdered, attacked including being raped and their land and property being stolen over many years, but there has been no comparable outrage.
When such unbalanced reporting is brought to the attention of some members of the media, there are reports that they get angry and don’t feel they have to explain. So we have to decide if media and politicians are playing us for their gain?

There were several reports of violence in different parts of the country which was in the midst of Ram Navami celebrations:
* West Bengal’s Raniganj and Asansol faced serious violence with at least 2 people dead, police officers injured and several shops burnt. There are reports that a police office lost their right hand as a bomb was thrown at them.
* In Jharkhand’s Bokaro and Hazaribagh district, there were stone throwing at the processions with an attempt to stop them.
* There are likely other smaller and unreported or locally reported incidents.
So one needs to ask why such repeated violence during auspicious celebrations? Are those groups of people trying to put a stop to these? Could this violence lead to a retaliation? These are questions we need to ask after 70 years of independence in a free and vibrant country.

News reports like this makes us wonder which India is this. Hundreds of Hindu families living in Hindu majority areas of Birbhum district of West Bengal have been denied the permission to have Durga Puja celebrations due to fear of a few muslim families, per reports from the villagers of this area. Police claim to be a law and order issue but how can anyone be denied to celebrate any festival let alone the biggest festival of the year? And this is the fourth year? Aren’t the police suppose to provide security and ensure law and order? Last year Last year West Bengal government banned the processions for immersion of Durga idols as it clashed with Muharram.

Five state assembly results just came out – Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In general, Congress did very badly recording the lowest vote share. As the elections are behind us now both Congress members and the rest of the country that might still be paying attention is wondering – where will Rahul Gandhi go for vacation next and for how long? Will he take an extended vacation due to the Congress drubbing?

Shri Giriraj Singh, Member of Parliament (from Bihar) recently said that families of every community should be required to limit to 2 child per family. So why is that comment viewed and reported as controversial? In addition to population control leading to a healthier population, his comment should be viewed as a way to protect and preserve the social dynamics of villages, towns and districts. If the religious balance goes haywire, it could cause several problems as is being reported in some areas of West Bengal (Malda and other border districts), or Assam or Kerala.

Now Hijras or Transgenders will get some respect as they can vote as the third gender bringing some excitement to this community who initially had to vote as male or female, and later as “Other” gender. The development driven by a 2014 Supreme Court judgement, represents a truly coming out for this community. West Bengal with more than 50,000 transgenders, one of the largest of any state, should see many register to vote and actually vote. Now it is for all of us to accept them and support them.

Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed to have created 68 lakh youth jobs in the last four years. The state has a population of around 900 lakhs. This claim feels very high compared to the West Bengal total population – and mind you this is the jobs created for only youth. If so, then arguably West Bengal would be one of the most economically progressive states in the country. Is it? Also, how many jobs have been lost during these four years. So this claim is raising a lot of questions.

Dr. Subramanian Swamy says: “for the common person, the police is our first line of defence (and probably the only immediate option) against the mobs of miscreants, bigots and religious fanatics rampaging around to destroy our lives, our property. That is until now. What has changed now? The demography. With miscreants gaining in numbers thanks to their dedication to breeding (to further the cause of religion), the good Samaritans are but shrinking in strength. Horrendous episodes of violence like Malda attacks, which used to be rare occurrences in the past, are becoming an everyday occurrence in some part of India or another. And what does the police do? They run for their lives sir.. for they’re either outnumbered or their hands are held by the politicians. So think again – if such a precarious situation happens in your town, who is going to save you? So we better Unite before its too late.”

West Bengal govt has banned BJP MPs and MLAs from visiting or holding rallies in the Bengal’s Malda district – they were on a fact finding mission about the recent estimated lakh or more Muslims who went on massive riots in the Kaliachak area of Malda, burning a police station, tens of govt and BSF vehicles and Hindu homes and shops. Per reports, this riot had backing of all three communal parties – the TMC, CPM, the Congress at the grassroots level. So far they have ONLY 11 arrests have been made and that too of the fringe protesters, but not the leaders. And, more importantly, people feel that Mamata Banerjee, TMC and West Bengal govt has not done anything to either provide security or restore the confidence of the shocked and shaken Hindu community both in this district and statewide.

Per news reports, a fringe muslim organisation in Malda, West Bengal protesting some comments made in another state torched buses, hurled bombs on police stations, damaged BSF vehicles, hindu home and shops in the Malda. People broke down talking about this and were quoted, “We have never faced such incident. We are extremely terrified. We have informed to our higher authority and now waiting for them to take action.” Incidentally, muslims are in majority at 52% in the Malda area. Sadly, major national and Bengali media has provided little to no coverage and secular political parties – most of usual suspects are quiet.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announce on 18th September that immersion of Durga Idols has been banned on the 23rd and 24th of October throughout West Bengal. The restriction on immersion of Idols on those two days is because the dates clash with Muharram. This is both shocking and unfortunate since in Bangladesh where Hindus which are a minority community did not see any such restrictions.

Now the NCW – National Commission for Women which may send a team to the state to probe these sorry state of affairs.
