Nitish Kumar’s Bihar government have gifted MLAs lavish gifts including microwave ovens costing only Rupees 30 lakhs for “doing their job” (whatever that means). Each department including the education department is taking turns during the ongoing budget session. At the same time, the state government is not able to pay salaries of its teachers for lack of funds. May be the contradiction makes sense to the chief minister and his ministers, but the public at large has been left wondering?

Yesterday being Sonia Gandhi’s 69th birthday, chief ministers Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee visit Sonia. No other reasons were given for the visit, but speculation has it that it could to talk future election strategy. But one wonders if Chief Ministers of such important and large states should spend time making such one on one visits.

There seem to be reports alleging that Sonia-Lalu-Nitish are trying to cut down on OBC, EBC reservations to make way for reservations based on religion made the front page news of every local newspaper in Bihar today. If true, this is a dangerous development and has not received due attention in the ongoing campaigning for the Bihar elections.

Arvind Kejriwal, who claims to be an anti-corruption crusader has now teamed up by reportedly appearing in rallies and endorsing Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. As we all know, Lalu has been convicted in the major Fodder scam and was given a jail sentence of 5 years.
